The Story

Matthew Gray is a creative media architect, chef, and storyteller whose four-decade career has woven together food, hospitality, radio, writing, and emotional intelligence.

He launched his first ventures in 1980s Los Angeles — from The Lox Dr & The Bagel Nurse to Rent-A-Chef, Chef Matthew’s Fine Foods, and the cult-favorite “Prime-Time Chef” segment on KROQ. His late-night talk show Midnight Rendezvous and his wildly inventive Pamper & Dine service drew national media attention for their originality and charm.

In 1993, Matthew moved to Honolulu and created Love Life Radio, one of the first shows ever broadcast live on the Internet. In 2004, he founded Hawaii Food Tours, a beloved, award-winning culinary experience that fed, educated, and entertained thousands of visitors until the pandemic.

Today, Matthew blends his chef’s palate, broadcaster’s presence, and storyteller’s instinct to help brands, founders, and audiences feel something real. His work is warm, cinematic, emotionally intelligent — and always centered on the eater, the listener, and the human story.

“The quality of your story determines everything.”
