The Guest
Hosts
Always Call Back.
Most people know their subject. Very few know how to deliver it on camera, under pressure, in 90 seconds. That's the difference between a forgettable appearance and a career-defining one — and it's a learnable skill.
Why accomplished people go flat
in interviews
In real life, you may be brilliant, warm, quick, funny, compelling, original.
Then the interview starts.
Suddenly you sound more careful than clear. More polished than alive. More informed than memorable. You over-explain. You drift into abstraction. You rely on talking points. You lose your timing, your edge, your presence.
And the version of you that shows up under pressure is not the version people remember.
That gap matters. Because in interviews, being impressive is not enough. You need to be vivid. You need to land. You need to stay with people after it's over.
This is not media training.
Great Interviews is a private coaching experience designed to help you become unforgettable in the chair. Together, we work on the specific things that make appearances matter:
Presence Under Pressure
Staying grounded and alive when the spotlight is on you — not performing for it, arriving into it.
Camera Presence & Eye Contact
Where to look, how to sit, what to do with your hands. The physical mechanics of commanding a screen.
Truth Without Rambling
Answers with shape, rhythm, and a point of arrival — speaking clearly and specifically without losing the thread.
Specificity of Language
Choosing words that land — not words that merely cover the ground. The difference between vivid and forgettable.
Handling Any Question
Curveballs, hard questions, blank-mind moments — coached until nothing surprises you when it counts.
The Close & The Call to Action
Most guests leave without asking for anything. Great guests make a clear, memorable ask. We build yours.
What changes when you stop trying to perform
You stop sounding like your résumé. You stop hiding behind ideas you haven't fully embodied. You stop giving answers that are technically strong but emotionally forgettable.
Instead, you become:
Before
- Technically strong, emotionally flat
- Polished but forgettable
- Careful rather than clear
- Abstract when you mean to be vivid
- Performing rather than present
After Great Interviews
- Grounded and distinct
- Articulate and connected
- Present, not performed
- Memorable in the moment and after
- Unmistakably yourself
Not because you learned tricks. Because you learned how to stay fully yourself when it counts.
If you have something real
to say, this is for you.
Great Interviews is built for people with real substance who don't want to disappear the moment the spotlight hits. This work is especially powerful for:
- Authors — on a launch cycle, building a readership through appearances
- Founders & Entrepreneurs — doing podcasts, press, or representing a brand on camera
- Experts & Thought Leaders — with something real to say who need to say it well
- Executives — preparing for interviews, panels, or high-stakes public conversations
- Podcast Guests — already booking shows but not yet converting listeners
- Anyone — stepping in front of a camera for the first time and determined to be great

What the best-selling authors
of all time had in common
Jack Canfield and John Gray were guests on Matthew's Love Life Radio Show in Honolulu when their books were first becoming worldwide phenomena. Independently, they shared the same insight — and it's the same lesson Matthew has been teaching ever since.
"Two of the greatest-selling authors in history sat across from me in the studio and told me the same thing: radio is the engine. Get on as many shows as you can, get great at it, and the numbers follow. I've been teaching that lesson ever since — and today, with four million podcasts, it's more true than it's ever been."

Matthew Gray
Matthew Gray has spent four decades on both sides of the microphone. As the founder of the Love Life Radio Network and host of the Love Life Radio Show in Honolulu, he built one of Hawaii's most recognized media brands — and was among the very first broadcasters in the world to stream a radio show live on the internet. He coached hundreds of guests to perform at their best before, during, and after every appearance.
In the 1990s he founded Great Interviews, a training program for authors on the national radio and talk-show circuit. The most successful guests he worked with shared a common truth: the craft of the interview was as important as the quality of the book. That hasn't changed. With four million podcasts and video everywhere, it matters more than ever.
Matthew doesn't coach like a Hollywood media trainer. He's a warm, down-to-earth Honolulu guy who sits with you, listens carefully, and finds exactly what makes you compelling on camera — then teaches you how to bring that out on demand. Every. Single. Time.
Matthew is also the author of The Ultimate Eater's Guide – Hawaii Edition 2026 and How To Start A Food Tour Business, and the founder of HawaiiFoodTours.com — so he brings not just coaching expertise, but the lived experience of an indie author actively working the same podcast circuit he teaches. He knows exactly what it takes because he's doing it right now.
